A purging compound is a liquid that is run through the hotrunner of a plastic injection molding device to purge the colored reisin. The purpose of this is to get rid of the coloration, so that future runs aren't colored incorrectly. An example of this would be if you were using black colored reisin and needed to change to a red colored reisin, you would use a purging compond to purge the black colored reisin out of the hotrunner system.
